Day 1 – Waking up to a warm Sunday in Freiburg

0720hrs – The summer sun rose early, clocking only 3 hrs of sleep, I was awakened by the sound of birds chirping happily that a new day has arrived. (not the exact sentiments I shared at the moment) With stomach growling; I decided its time for my favourite jetlag remedy  expresso hunting!

0745 hrs – Headed out and saw the beautiful sky that cheered me up a little.

Clock wise from top right – room window view, backyard, jetlag remedy (1xexpresso, cafe capuccino, and a salami sandwich, unidentified bird, birdfeed in backyard, sandwich place,(centre) – Starbucks!)

Saw the backyard for the first time today as we entered the service apartment in total darkness this morning at 0100 hrs ; has always been in awe of european architecture and even noticed the birdfeed, a device which I heard about, read about but never get to see back home (Singapore). Not that we don’t feed our birds in Singapore, but nobody bothered to invest in a birdfeed, and it’s against the law to feed the pigeons or crows. (thats the most common urban birds back home)

0800 hrs
Made my way to the Freigburg Bahn station, bought breakfast (some lovely salami sandwiches from a confectionary) and yes, thank God for Starbucks free WIFI and their expresso and cafe latte. (I have to commendate on the Starbucks service staff (centre picture above) on his smile and  friendly service this morning, it made my day.)

@1100 hrs –  Headed to Freiburg famous catheral square (also known Augustinerplatz), , and guess what?- It’s wine festival today! Caught up with management team from Cumuluspro and had really serious discussion over good food, good beer, good wine and good company.

Pictures all taken from Frieburg town square. (Bottom right – I have no idea who this gentleman is but we think he looks great in his collared T and shades)

Tonight- We’re be meeting with more of our european team over dinner.

1730 hrs – After a brisk nap we headed back to the Catheral square again. we picked a place just beside the catheral.

The sky was clear, blue and certainly warm, not hinting of any change of weather. We ate heartily, like always and the wind came. Evening ended with us moving indoors, and with jetlag knocking on my door since 1900hrs we head back at 2100 hrs.
End-Day 01
